The Challenge

A prominent fruit grower in the agriculture industry faced significant challenges due to how the Oracle EBS module was configured and used. Manual processes and data issues caused prolonged month-end closes, and many integrations with operational systems were manual, with no data governance in place.

What We Did

To address these issues, we engaged a project manager, Oracle Projects subject matter expert, and an Oracle technical resource to holistically assess the technology and processes. Our scope included:

  • Oracle Projects Module: We assessed the configuration and use of the Oracle Projects module, finance modules, and Human Capital Management system from an integration perspective
  • Legacy Systems: We evaluated the legacy systems used to manage agricultural land and other operations
  • Assessment Scope: The assessment covered the Oracle Projects module, Oracle Financials (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management Modules), integrations, data governance, and best practices

Our Impact

Our detailed assessment and recommendations led to significant improvements:

  • Oracle Projects Module Optimization: We conducted a deep dive into the Oracle Projects module configuration, including project setup, task management, and reporting, and suggested changes to optimize these areas
  • Real-Time P&L: We made several suggestions to achieve real-time Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting by leveraging the Oracle Essbase system
  • Integration Validation: We validated all manual integrations, identifying quick wins and a long-term roadmap for improvement
  • Data Governance: We reviewed the end-to-end process and established a suggested path forward
  • Process Improvements: We validated process differences between the US and Mexico locations and made suggestions to incorporate some functionalities into Oracle
  • ERP Roadmap: We provided a list of quick wins and a 1 to 2-year ERP roadmap to guide future improvements
